Rebuilding the Newtown Creek Bridge

Mike Sellers, representing the Newtown Creek Coalition, will make a presentation on a proposed pedestrian bridge over the Newtown Creek, connecting Frost Lane in the Borough, with Sycamore Street in the Township. The proposed bridge will follow the path of the Newtown Railway, which constructed a bridge over the Newtown Creek at the same location in 1897. The original bridge enabled the trolley line to continue to Doylestown, and beyond. The foundations for that bridge still exist. Trolley operations ceased in 1923.

Newtown Township and Newtown Borough have agreed to join with the Newtown Creek Coalition in a partnership to investigate the requirements for grant funding for such a project. Join us on May 18th to learn more about the Newtown Creek Bridge and this proposed project.
